How to change your address on Kaiser Permanente

To change your address on Kaiser Permanente: sign in, open the address settings page linked below, replace your old mailing (and billing) address, and save. It takes about five minutes once you’re signed in.

  1. Figure out which type of Kaiser Permanente plan you have (individual/family bought directly, bought through a state exchange, Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, federal employee, or grandfathered), since the address-change process differs for each
  2. If you have an Individual/Family plan not bought through an exchange, log in and send a secure message to Member Services with subject line 'other,' listing your new address and any covered dependents
  3. If you enrolled through a state Health Insurance Exchange (like Covered California or the federal Marketplace) or have Medi-Cal/Medicaid, you must update your address with that exchange or state agency directly — Kaiser will be notified automatically and update your file
  4. If you're on a Medicare plan, update your address with the Social Security Administration first, then message Kaiser Member Services (subject 'other') to update their records, noting whether it's your account address or mailing address

One Kaiser Permanente gotcha: There's no single self-service address-change form for everyone — Kaiser routes you differently depending on plan type, and for exchange-based or Medicaid/Medicare plans they don't let you update it directly at all, since the state or federal agency has to make the change first and pass it along.
