How to change your address on TIAA

To change your address on TIAA: sign in, open the address settings page linked below, replace your old mailing (and billing) address, and save. It takes about five minutes once you’re signed in.

The short version

Go straight to the address settings: https://www.tiaa.org/

  1. Sign in to your TIAA account at tiaa.org and click My profile in the top right corner.
  2. Select Personal Information, then click the orange Update your contact information button.
  3. Request and enter the temporary security code TIAA sends you before you can edit anything.
  4. Update your address and finish by clicking the orange Save my contact information button.

One TIAA gotcha: TIAA requires you to enter a one-time temporary identification code before it will let you change any contact details, so you need access to your registered phone or email to complete the update.

  • Brokerages mail tax documents (1099s) to the address on file — a stale address means missing tax season paperwork.
  • Some address changes at brokerages trigger a short hold on outgoing transfers; do this early, not during a trade.
