How to change your address on Vanguard
Moving? Vanguard still has your old address until you tell it otherwise. Here’s the fastest path.
The short version
- Sign in to your Vanguard account — the address settings live here: https://personal1.vanguard.com/mnt-myprofile/address. You may need to re-verify with a code.
- Find the profile / contact / address section and replace your old address with the new one. Watch for separate mailing vs billing addresses — update both.
- Save, then check the confirmation. Some services email a security notice; that’s normal.
Worth knowing for investing accounts
- Brokerages mail tax documents (1099s) to the address on file — a stale address means missing tax season paperwork.
- Some address changes at brokerages trigger a short hold on outgoing transfers; do this early, not during a trade.
Vanguard is one account. The average mover has 15–40 more —Movepost finds yours from your email (headers only, it can’t read your messages), opens each site, and autofills your new address while you check them off.Find my accounts free →
