How to change your address on Ameren

To change your address on Ameren: sign in, open the address settings page linked below, replace your old mailing (and billing) address, and save. It takes about five minutes once you’re signed in.

The short version

Go straight to the address settings: https://www.ameren.com/

  1. Log in to your Ameren online account, or create one first if you don't already have an account.
  2. Choose the option that fits your move: Start Service (new address), Stop Service (leaving the area), or Transfer Service (moving within the Ameren service area).
  3. Have your account holder's name, full service address, Social Security Number, and desired service date ready to complete the request.
  4. Submit the request, then track or edit it from your Account Dashboard or by enrolling in Alerts for updates.

One Ameren gotcha: Ameren doesn't offer a simple 'change of address' — since it's a fixed-territory utility, moving within its area requires a Transfer Service request, while leaving the area means stopping service entirely and starting fresh with a new provider.

Worth knowing for utilities accounts

  • Utilities usually need a stop-service date at the old address and a start-service date at the new one — it’s two orders, not one edit.
  • Book this a week or two ahead; same-day starts often aren’t available.
