How to change your address on Con Edison

To change your address on Con Edison: sign in, open the address settings page linked below, replace your old mailing (and billing) address, and save. It takes about five minutes once you’re signed in.

The short version

Go straight to the address settings: https://www.coned.com/en/accounts-billing/my-account

  1. Log in to your Con Edison online account (or register for one if you don't have it) and go to the Service Management page
  2. Choose 'Move Service to a New Address' rather than starting a brand-new account, since Con Edison links your existing account to the new location
  3. Enter your current address, new address, and your planned move-out and move-in dates, keeping the move-in date within 30 days of today
  4. Submit the request online; if you're moving outside NYC or Westchester, you'll instead need to stop service at your old address and start a new service application for the new location

One Con Edison gotcha: Con Edison's online move tool only works if your move-in date is within 30 days and your new address is inside their NYC/Westchester service area — moving farther out or further ahead requires separately stopping and starting service, and business accounts must call in instead of using the website.

Worth knowing for utilities accounts

  • Utilities usually need a stop-service date at the old address and a start-service date at the new one — it’s two orders, not one edit.
  • Book this a week or two ahead; same-day starts often aren’t available.
