How to change your address on CenterPoint Energy

To change your address on CenterPoint Energy: sign in, open the address settings page linked below, replace your old mailing (and billing) address, and save. It takes about five minutes once you’re signed in.

The short version

Go straight to the address settings: https://www.centerpointenergy.com/

  1. Log in to your CenterPoint Energy My Account (or create one) before your move date
  2. Choose 'Transfer Service' if you're an existing customer relocating within CenterPoint's service area, or 'Start New Service' if you're new
  3. Provide your current account number (if transferring), the new address, desired move-in date, and a payment method in case a deposit is required
  4. Submit the request at least 7 days before your move-in date; expect it to be processed within about 3 business days

One CenterPoint Energy gotcha: CenterPoint Energy only handles natural gas and electric utility service in specific regional areas (e.g., Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota), so you must confirm your new address falls within their service territory before starting a transfer — otherwise you'll need to set up service with a different provider entirely.
